About this page

Supporting Pacific infrastructure projects

ADM is registered on the Pacific Infrastructure Contractor Directory as a specialist supplier. This page is intended for project developers, prime contractors, and procurement teams working on Pacific Infrastructure Pipeline projects who want to understand what we supply and how we work.

What we supply

Our core capability areas

We are not a generalist wholesaler. ADM specialises in technically demanding product areas, supported by a team of engineers and technical sales staff who understand how these systems are applied in the field.

Industrial power supplies

Australia's largest distributor and stockist of MEAN WELL power supplies, alongside DIN rail, rack, and panel-mount solutions. We also stock DC UPS supplies, industrial battery chargers and inverters, AC control transformers, and LED lighting — covering the full scope of power conversion, conditioning, and lighting for energy infrastructure, control panels, remote telemetry, and critical off-grid applications.

Industrial and process control instrumentation

Our instrumentation range covers industrial and process control applications across water, energy, and resources sectors. If it can be measured, we can likely supply a solution — from weight, pressure, and temperature to flow, level, and displacement. Beyond sensing, we offer process controllers and data recording, giving project teams a complete measurement and control capability from a single supplier.

Radiation detection systems

Through ADM Nuclear Technologies, we supply Thermo Scientific and complementary radiation detection equipment for safety monitoring, port security, and environmental measurement. This specialist capability is rarely found in general industrial distributors and is particularly relevant to border and customs infrastructure projects.

Custom solutions

Pre-configured and bespoke solutions — ready before they leave Australia

One of the most significant challenges in Pacific project delivery is that equipment must be right before it arrives. The logistics and cost of rectifying a specification error on-island are substantial. ADM specifically addresses this through our custom solutions capability.

1

Device pre-configuration

Instruments and power supplies can be pre-set to your exact specifications before dispatch, reducing on-site setup time and the risk of commissioning errors in remote locations.

2

Bundled kits

We can consolidate multiple components — power supply, instrumentation, connectors, mounting hardware — into a single, verified kit. One purchase order, one shipment, one point of accountability.

3

Custom cables and connectors

Custom wire terminations and connectors fitted to products before despatch to simplify installation, reduce in-field jointing, and ensure compatibility with your specified equipment.

4

Bespoke mounting and enclosures

In-house CAD and 3D printing capability for custom mounting brackets, stands, and enclosures — particularly relevant for radiation detection instruments in non-standard installations.

5

Electronics and electrical assembly

Through our engineering team and supplier network, we can assist with switchboard and panel building, cable harness assembly, and small-batch electronics production for bespoke requirements.

6

Supply chain resilience

We actively manage supplier relationships and stock holding to provide continuity of supply for critical project components — including alternative sourcing strategies when primary suppliers face lead time pressures.

Sector relevance

Where we can add value in the Pacific pipeline

We are not a fit for every project type in the pipeline. Our capability is most directly applicable to the following sectors.

Energy infrastructure

Solar hybrid, mini-grid, diesel backup, and power distribution projects — conditioning, protection, and monitoring equipment.

ICT and digital infrastructure

Telecommunications and data projects requiring ruggedised power supplies, UPS, and remote environmental monitoring.

Water and wastewater

Treatment plants and pumping stations requiring flow, pressure, and level instrumentation and process control.

Port and border security

Radiation detection portals and monitoring systems for customs and border control infrastructure.

How we work with prime contractors

ADM does not tender for prime contracts. Our model is to work as a specialist hardware partner within a prime contractor's project team — providing product specification support during the tender phase, followed by supply and pre-configuration of equipment once the contract is awarded. This is an extension of the technical sales model we already operate across Australian infrastructure projects: we understand your requirements, we specify suitable solutions, and we deliver correctly configured equipment on schedule.

We hold stock across three locations in Australia (Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth) and aim to dispatch same-day for orders received before 1:00pm AEST.

Why ADM

40 years of technical expertise, still family-owned

ADM was founded in 1986 by Glenn Bates and remains a family-owned Australian business. We are ISO 9001:2015 certified, have long-term supplier relationships including over 30 years with ESI Technology, and operate with a team of engineers and technical sales specialists across four Australian offices.

We are not a company that chases sales for the sake of it. Our approach is to understand your application properly and recommend a solution we are confident will work — whether that is a standard catalogue product, a pre-configured system, or a bespoke solution developed with our suppliers. That same approach applies to Pacific projects.
